Eureka! & International Mountain Guides A Summit Story...
A summit story Eric Simonson of International Mountain Guides first used Eureka! tents during a 1999 Mt. Everest expedition. Upon his safe return, he stopped to visit the Eureka! staff at a national trade show to share his experiences and discuss how well the tents performed. Excited to hear that Simonson was planning another trip to Mt. Everest (the 2001 Mallory/Irvine Expedition), a Eureka! senior tent designer offered to develop a tent specifically for Simonson. Together, they discussed the many special requirements, forced by the trials of Mt. Everest, that had still remained unmet in modern tent design. Born from that conversation—and months of collaboration and rigorous prototype testing— the 5th Season EXO went into production and on to perform with zero failures.
Now, for 2005, Simonson, the IMG team, and Eureka! set out again to redesign the Four Season/Expedition tent category, this time taking the 4 season tents from 4th season to ALL season. Still maintaining their super-tough properties, the tents now feature added High/Low venting–including scoop fly vents and side wall vents–and extra storage that make them more comfortable for year-round use.
